I. Living wages & affordable healthcare for all campus workers.
We call on Murray State University to:
- Implement a standard yearly budget adjustment that codifies COLA, which is linked to statewide cost of living increases
- Commit to raising the minimum wage for all campus workers to $15 in the next five years
- Set up a pay scale that is relational between workers and their direct supervisors that does not exceed twice the salary of the lowest-paid employee
- Increase healthcare benefits for regular full time, part-time, and student workers. All workers deserve affordable and comprehensive healthcare

II. Support for parents and caregivers on campus.
We call on Murray State University to:
- Implement all of the action items outlined in the original GEC/WFC proposal, including but not limited ongoing support for on-campus childcare
- Follow through on the request for data regarding parent and caregiver support, if data is needed, and at the very least put these protections back on the agenda of both the administration and the mechanisms of shared governance at Murray State University
- Require vaccinations against the COVID-19 virus for the whole campus community. UCW Kentucky voted as a statewide union to support vaccine mandates in the Fall of 2021; and this, along with previous other mandates being enforced in their entirety, will keep our workers safe, in turn keeping the families of parents and caregivers safe from the spread of COVID-19 from work to home.
II. Support for parents and caregivers on campus.
III. Respect and safety for all campus workers.
We call on Murray State University to:
- Retain an ombudsman that can be a neutral party with issues of harassment, etc.
- Commit to transparency; such as adequate Title IX and Clery Act reporting, no longer using “do not forward” messaging in electronic correspondences (unless personal data is being shared), and requiring upper administration to justify (in writing) any rejections of any resolutions coming from Faculty Senate and/or Staff Congress
- Complete an internal audit of procedures for employee complaints, tenure policies, and promotion policies (across all job classes) with findings and plans to improve made public to the entirety of the campus employees
III. Respect and safety for all campus workers.
